CES 2018 Day 3

CES 2018 Day 3

Day 3 is in the books. So far the most feel good product I've seen is the My Special Aflac Duck. The robot duck costs $200, but Aflac is donating them to children diagnosed with cancer. It features emotion disks that can be put on the duck to help children express their feelings and condition. It also has a chemotherapy PICC line, so the child can see the duck go through chemo and see they're not alone in the fight against cancer. It has sensors that react to touch, a microphone and light sensor that adapt to different environments and...

CES 2018 Day 2

CES 2018 Day 2

CES Day 2 kicked off with an interesting 5G panel. The race to get 5G networks up and going is on, with both AT&T and Verizon saying they'll be first to market. AT&T is focusing on 5G smartphones while Verizon is focusing on residential broadband delivered through 5G towers. The world's largest consumer electronics event requires one major thing: electricity. CES 2018 Day 1

CES day 1 is in the books! The world's largest tech convention always sets the tone for the year for new products and trends. While the show has only been open for a few hours, there are some definite themes already noticeable: Driverless cars are here and the technology is working. 5G is closer than you think. It may be working alongside 4G LTE as soon as 2019. Voice is the preferred tech interaction method. Amazon's Alexa and Google's Home Assistant are everywhere in the show, even cars, TVs, and refrigerators. One of the most interesting things we've seen is...

CES Day 2

Day 2 was another fun and busy day. The morning started with Qualcomm's keynote, where they detailed the impact 5G networks could have on technology innovation. The first 5G testing will start later this year or early in 2018. This could offer gigabit speeds over wireless connections. Under Armour highlighted the afternoon session with their products and services focused on health and wellness. They announced they're starting a sleepwear line to help athletes recover. They're specially designed to increase bloodflow during sleep for a better rest. At a price of $99.99 for a sleep shirt this may not be a...

CES Day 1

CES Day 1

Hello from Vegas! The first day of the Consumer Electronics Show was definitely busy but also very productive. While there are all kinds of cool tech products the overarching theme is how technology helps make life better. The day started with a Carnival Cruise Line keynote. This was the first travel company to exhibit and keynote at CES, as keynotes are usually reserved for high tech companies with new products to launch. They announced a new travel experience called "Ocean." The experience begins before the cruise with a personalized medallion that works as a key door, payment method, and event...
